Alonso and Torres suffer injury setbacks
Liverpool suffered a blow on Sunday when midfielder Xabi Alonso limped out of their 1-1 draw against Arsenal with a suspected broken metatarsal.
The Spanish midfielder had just returned from a foot injury that had kept him out of the Liverpool side since mid-September but hobbled off after 68 minutes.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez confirmed afterwards that Alonso had suffered another metatarsal injury and that striker Fernando Torres, who was replaced by Peter Crouch, also aggravated an adductor muscle injury.
Both now face lengthy spells on the sidelines.
