Cahill set to miss Premier League start
Tim Cahill is expected to miss the start of the English Premier League season with a foot injury.
The Australian star's club, Everton, confirmed he had hurt the same area of his foot where he broke a metatarsal in March, but denied suggestions the midfielder would be out of action for three months.
"That is premature and wide of the mark," Everton head physiotherapist Mick Rathbone told the club's website.
"He has suffered damage to the same area same area of the foot but it is minuscule in comparison to the previous injury."
No specific timescale is being put on Cahill's recovery, but it was likely to be a matter of weeks.
The 27-year-old's latest injury occurred when he fell awkwardly in his comeback match, a 2-2 friendly draw against Werder Bremen at Goodison Park on Tuesday.
The Premiership kicks off on August 11.
