Australian midfielder Harry Kewell will make a timely return from injury in Liverpool's reserve grade game against Newcastle United.
The Socceroo has not played since injuring his groin in December and was hoping to force his way back into Liverpool's first team in time for next week's Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen.
Kewell, 26, was also desperate to be fit to play in his first Cup final in a decade in English soccer when Liverpool faces Chelsea in the League Cup decider in Cardiff on February 27.
