Spain sweats on injured Martinez
Midfielder Javi Martinez could be unavailable for Spain's World Cup quarterfinal against Paraguay after injuring his ankle in training.
Martinez hurt his ankle during Thursday's closed session. Spain refused to reveal which ankle the 21-year-old Athletic Bilbao player injured.
Martinez made his World Cup debut in a 2-1 group win over Chile, replacing Xabi Alonso.
Spain plays Paraguay on Saturday at Ellis Park. It will also likely be without backup center back Raul Albiol, who continues to recover from an ankle injury.
