Molik makes a winning start in Austria
Australia's Alicia Molik has won her first round match at the Generali Ladies tournament in Austria on Tuesday, overcoming Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 6-4 3-6 6-1.
Molik, who had five aces, next faces either sixth-seeded Patty Schnyder or Aravane Rezai.
Karin Knapp rallied to upset Michaella Krajicek 4-6 6-4 7-6 (7-4).
After losing the opening set and falling a break behind in the second, the 55th-ranked Italian broke Krajicek twice to take the match into a decider.
Knapp missed several match points at 5-4 but finally won it in the tie-breaker.
Knapp's next opponent is fourth-seeded Dinara Safina, who had a bye in the first round.
Francesca Schiavone used 10 aces to beat Katarina Srebotnik 7-6 (8-6) 6-3.
Schiavone, who won her first WTA Tour title earlier this season in Bad Gastein, Austria, takes on top-seeded Anna Chakvatadze in the second round.
Gisela Dulko ousted Sandra Martinovic 6-3 6-3 and will play second-seeded Daniela Hantuchova in the second round.
