Port axe three while Meyer quits AFL
Port Adelaide have axed three players while another, former Richmond utility Danny Meyer, has retired from the AFL.
The Power delisted Marlon Motlop and rookies Matthew Westhoff and Callum Hay to free up spaces on their list entering the trade period.
"It's important that we have some spots available so that we can improve and develop our playing list," Port's football operations manager Peter Rohde said in a statement on Thursday.
Motlop, the 25-year-old cousin ofPower goalsneak Daniel Motlop - whose future at Port is also uncertain - was discarded after managing just five games in four seasons.
Westhoff, 23, the brother of Port forward Justin, played just six games over four years while Hay, 19, was a rookie-listed player who never made an AFL debut.
Meyer, 25, has retired after playing nine games for the Power over two seasons after being recruited from Richmond, where he played 16 matches.
