Port Adelaide and Magpies merger approved
A merger between the Port Adelaide Football Club and the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club has been given the green light by the SANFL.
The administrative merger will give the clubs a stronger financial footing, SANFL executive commissioner Leigh Whicker said in a statement on Monday,
SANFL directors voted on the proposal for One Port Adelaide on Monday, saying it would underpin the Magpies' future in the SANFL competition.
The nine SANFL clubs were unanimous in their decision.
"All these results are critical for the ongoing prosperity of football in South Australia for which the SANFL is responsible," Whicker said.
"It is now up to the members of the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club to vote the necessary changes to their club's constitution at a special meeting tomorrow night to allow Port Adelaide to become one."
