Port crush Richmond
Richmond returned to its woeful worst with a crushing 78-point defeat to a rampant Port Adelaide in the AFL match at AAMI Stadium.
Port toyed with the Tigers, winning 19.14 (128) to 7.8 (50).
The Power entered tonight's encounter on a two-game losing streak, while Richmond had won three games in a row.
But in a lacklustre match punctuated by poor skill and turnovers from both sides, the form was reversed before a disappointing crowd of 25,761.
Richmond managed a measly one goal to halftime in an insipid performance in which only one player, Joel Bowden, offered stern resistance.
Port, with centre-half back Chad Cornes (31 possessions, 13 marks) and his younger brother, wingman Kane, especially prominent, took until the 15th minute of the clash to score its first goal - and the first major of the match.
But it was the first of four Power goals in five minutes against meek opposition which established a 4.6 to 0.2 advantage at quarter time.
Richmond ruckman Greg Stafford kicked his side's first major in the eighth minute of the second quarter but Port responded with the next four goals to take a decisive 9.10 to 1.3 lead at halftime.
The contest was over, with the second half following the pattern of the first - Port's goals interspersed by slack Richmond skills and an alarming lack of commitment from the visitors.
Power second-gamer Damon White bagged three goals while star forward Warren Tredrea, Shaun Burgoyne, ruckman Dean Brogan and rising youngster Steven Salopek each kicked two goals.
