After taking 16 seasons and 305 games to reach his first AFL grand final, Shane Crawford wants more.

The 34-year-old decorated Hawthorn veteran will play on next season, with the reigning premiers confirming they had offered him a one-year contract.

While the club and Crawford are yet to agree to the exact terms of the deal, the Hawks said the four-time best and fairest had committed to continuing his career.

The 1999 Brownlow Medallist had been weighing up his options, after being restricted to 14 games this season because of a nagging knee injury.

But he played a key part in the Hawks' three finals, picking up 20-plus possessions in each of them and was among the team's best in their upset grand final victory over Geelong.

Having consulted a specialist, he is confident the knee will improve with rest over the off-season and cause him less trouble in 2009 than this year.

While Crawford is staying, the club announced the delisting of five other players.

Former Essendon veteran defender Danny Jacobs, whose struggles with injury prompted him to retire before the season started, was one of them.

The others were hard-running midfielder Tim Clarke, who played 96 games, Zac Dawson, Luke McEntee and Garry Moss.

They also elevated forward Cameron Stokes from the rookie list to the senior list.

Meanwhile, Richmond cut 93-gamer Chris Hyde, along with Danny Meyer and Travis Casserly, adding to the previous delisting of 188-game veteran Greg Tivendale.

That leaves the Tigers with three vacancies on their list, after they traded their third round draft pick for Port Adelaide midfielder Adam Thomson during last week's exchange period.

Thomson is one of nine Power players who will not be with the club next season, after a massive cleanout ahead of next month's draft.

Key forward Damon White, who played 55 games over seven seasons, was delisted, along with Greg Bentley, Adam Cockshell, Fabian Deluca, Nathan Lonie and Ryan Williams.

Courageous premiership defender Michael Wilson and injury-plagued ruckman Hugh Minson had already retired.

Port also cut rookie list players Daniel Boyle, Gavin Grose and Ryan Willits.
