Stratton wins Rising Star nomination
The good news continues for Hawthorn, with defender Ben Stratton the latest AFL Rising Star nominee.
Stratton had 19 possessions and laid four tackles in Friday night's three-point win over the Western Bulldogs.
The Hawks have now won seven-straight matches and have a massive game on Saturday against top side Geelong.
The 21-year-old Stratton made his senior debut in round three and has played all 12 games since, providing a major boost for Hawthorn's undermanned defence.
"We've been really pleased with the contribution Ben has made in his first year at the club," said coach Alastair Clarkson.
"For a player who has only played 12 games of AFL football, his maturity and reliability have been outstanding down back and this nomination is a great recognition of his hard work, attitude and willingness to learn."
