Renouf has gall bladder surgery
Hawthorn's disastrous run of injuries to big men continues with ruckman Brent Renouf now facing several weeks on the sidelines.
Renouf had surgery on Wednesday to remove his gall bladder.
The 23-year-old had already been in hospital with liver damage after an accidental knock during the Hawks' narrow loss to Geelong last weekend.
The Hawks confirmed Renouf would be out of action for several weeks after his latest setback.
"(Renouf) suffered some ongoing pain yesterday and a decision was made to operate in order to inspect fluid around his gall bladder," the club said in a statement.
"He is expected to make a full recovery, although it will be a number of weeks before Brent can return to any strenuous running activities."
The Hawks have already lost key defenders Ben Stratton and Stephen Gilham with long-term injuries.
Forward Jarryd Roughead also underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair his ruptured Achilles tendon - an injury which has also ended his season.
