Stay with me Scully, says Trengove
Rising star Jack Trengove wants to play his entire AFL career alongside Tom Scully at Melbourne.
Scully, whose contract with the Demons expires this season, has been linked to a move to new AFL entity Greater Western Sydney next year.
Trengove was recruited by Melbourne with the second pick of the 2009 national draft, one selection behind the top ranked Scully.
While Trengove signed a three-year deal with the Demons, Scully signed a minimum two-year contract.
Trengove, who wants to play the duration of his career with Melbourne, said he had not spoken Scully about the speculation.
"All I can say is he's a great player and a great bloke and someone I would love to play for the rest of my career out at Melbourne with," Trengove told reporters in Adelaide on Thursday.
"I don't have any insight into what is happening there, but it's something between the club, Sculls, and his manager.
"I would love for him to stay.
"You want the best players around to play with, and he's a great player and he's going to be a great player for the Melbourne Football Club."
Scully's future had not been talked about within the Demon playing group, Trengove said.
"He's a professional and I admire the way he goes about it but he doesn't really bring it up around the club, which is good," he said.
"It's something that none of the players really look into, it's a total external thing that is driven by the media.
"And if it happens, it happens - we just go about our business and try and win games."
Scully will miss Melbourne's pre-season cup openers against Adelaide and Port Adelaide on Friday night with knee soreness.
