Broncos in no hurry to name new No.7
Brisbane will keep everyone, including opponents Melbourne, puzzling about Peter Wallace's replacement for Saturday's NRL preliminary final at Etihad Stadium.
A number of scenarios have been tossed up in the media since x-rays on Saturday night confirmed Wallace's left ankle was fractured, including the far-fetched one of re-activating former champion halfback Allan Langer's old contract.
In the space of 24 hours, big-hitting back-rowers Ben Te'o and Tonie Carroll, barnstorming prop Dave Taylor, fullback Karmichael Hunt, Queensland Cup hooker PJ Marsh, Under 20s No.7 Ben Hunt and even skipper Darren Lockyer have been mentioned to take over Wallace's role.
Coach Ivan Henjak would not be drawn into revealing his hand on Monday although he said he had a "pretty good idea" of what he may do.
"There are a lot (of options)," he said.
"They'll all train there at some stage and we'll make a decision later in the week."
"We'll see who handles what we want to do in the game the best."
Henjak dismissed concerns over the fitness of Lockyer who was limping slightly after Brisbane's impressive 24-10 win over the Dragons.
"Lockyer will be fine," he said.
