Broncos lose Gillett for a month
Brisbane have suffered a second injury blow within 24 hours with utility Matt Gillett joining halfback Peter Wallace on the sidelines for a month.
Gillett, who battled a knee injury during Brisbane's 44-16 win over Cronulla on Sunday was expected to back up against the Bulldogs on Friday night.
But scans have revealed a medial ligament tear requiring a month's rest.
Gillett has made an eye-catching NRL debut coming out of the Queensland Cup.
Former Brisbane, Queensland and Australian captain Gorden Tallis had been impressed with his skills, suggesting this week he could be a State of Origin bolter for Queensland.
Wallace was diagnosed with a high grade medial ligament tear on Monday ruling him out of action for four to six weeks.
The double blow comes just as the Broncos were getting some troops back with Israel Folau and Corey Parker returning from injury against the Sharks.
Youngster Ben Hunt is expected to take over Wallace's No.7 duties while coach Ivan Henjak has several options in the centres, including Alex Glenn, Gerard Beale or teenager Corey Norman.
