Carroll returns to the Sydney Swans
Swans great Dennis Carroll has returned to the AFL club to take up the role of welfare and player development manager.
Carroll played 219 games for the Swans between 1981-1993, captained them on 131 occasions and was named in the club's Team of the Century.
He replaces Phil Mullen in the player development role.
"I am ecstatic that Dennis has agreed to join the club in what we believe is a critically important role," football manager Andrew Ireland said in a statement on Thursday.
"Dennis' experience in football and commerce, and his fine character, will make him a first class replacement and we look forward to having him on board at the Swans."
Carroll has decided to leave a 20-year career with car dealership City Ford to re-join his beloved club.
"After a considerable amount of thought and knowing the Swans is where my true passion lies, I decided this role was for me and I genuinely believe I can make a true difference," he said.
Carroll will commence his role on Monday October 12.
