Berbakov returns to Swans in new AFL role
AFL assistant coach Peter Berbakov will return to Sydney, where he will have a newly-created role as the Swans' planning and operations manager.
On Tuesday, Berbakov continued the exodus of staff from St Kilda's football department when he resigned as an assistant coach after one season.
He had previously been an assistant under Paul Roos at the Swans.
Berbakov's new brief at Sydney will be to oversee the daily running of the football program and also conduct planning and research.
The 38-year-old, who played 52 senior games for Essendon, has tertiary qualifications in sports science, business and IT.
"This new role will be an important one, ensuring the components of the football program are fully integrated, operating efficiencies are maximised and we are relentless in our search for ways to improve," said Swans football manager Dean Moore.
"Peter is highly qualified in sports science as well as business systems, and has a fantastic understanding of football and the Swans, so he has the perfect combination of skills for this position."
