Freo players in police investigation
Fremantle pair Des Headland and Michael Walters are part of a police investigation following an incident outside a Perth nightspot in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A police spokeswoman confirmed to AAP that an "altercation between 10-20 people" broke out at approximately 1am on Sunday morning near a taxi rank outside the Leederville Hotel.
Police and ambulances were called to the scene, with several people treated for minor cuts and bruises.
The police spokeswoman could not confirm what involvement Headland and Walters had, if any, in the incident.
No charges have been laid and the investigation is continuing.
Fremantle released a statement confirming Headland and Walters had contacted club officials to notify them of the incident straight after it occurred.
General manager of football operations Chris Bond met with the players on Monday but the club refused to release further details.
"Because it is the subject of a police investigation the club is not in a position to comment," Bond said in a statement.
Neither Headland nor Walters featured in the Dockers' loss to Brisbane on Saturday night.
Headland is nursing a hamstring injury while Walters, who made his AFL debut earlier in the season, played for WAFL side Swan Districts on Saturday, gathering 20 possessions in a solid hit-out.
Headland was hoping to return for Saturday's western derby clash with West Coast.
Walters, 18, was snared with pick No.53 in last year's national draft.
