Broncos report expected next week
Police expect to receive an independent report next week on an investigation into an alleged sexual assault by Brisbane Broncos players.
Barrister Tim Carmody has been asked by Queensland police to review evidence gathered in an investigation into allegations of sexual assault by Brisbane Broncos star players Karmichael Hunt, Darius Boyd and Sam Thaiday.
An incident in a Brisbane nightclub toilet on September 13 allegedly involved the players and a 24-year-old woman.
It is also believed video footage taken on a mobile phone showed people taking drugs.
Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson said he expected to receive the report next week.
Mr Atkinson said he did not think the investigation had taken too long to conclude.
"I don't think it has taken ... any longer than with other complaints," he said.
"The only difference is the high level of public interest, and because of that and other factors involving Broncos, it is appropriate whatever decision we reach we have that validated."
Asked whether the Broncos were receiving special treatment, Mr Atkinson said: "No, not at all, this is all about public confidence, it is not about the people involved".
