Rugby internationals in pub 'incident'
Wales rugby international Andy Powell has been suspended by his club side Wasps along with teammate and England prop Tim Payne after an incident in a London pub left the backrower with a head injury.
Payne was also reportedly at the west London venue on Monday night, and both players have been stood down with immediate effect pending an internal investigation by Wasps.
Officers were called to the Walkabout pub at 10:30pm local time after "reports of an altercation," the Metropolitan Police said.
Police said the incident is being investigated by officers from the violent crime unit but no arrests have been made.
Medical student Hal Munton posted a picture on Twitter of a man he claims is Powell, lying face down on the floor being tended to by police. Powell had a big cut on the top of his head, according to Munton.
Wasps did not divulge the reason for suspending the pair or give any details while their own investigation continues.
The 29-year-old Powell had been a regular for Wales before being thrown out of its Six Nations squad after he was arrested for driving a golf buggy down a motorway while drunk.
The 31-year-old Payne made the last of his 22 appearances for England last year.
