Victoria scrapes past Pigs
A missed lay-up by West Sydney's Sam Mackinnon has helped Victoria end a two-game National Basketball League losing streak with a nail-biting 99-95 win at the Whitlam Centre in Liverpool.
The West Sydney captain was inspirational in the absence of dominant big man Simon Dwight, who was a late withdrawal with a gastric complaint.
But Mackinnon blew an open lay-up with the Pigs trailing 97-95 with just 19 seconds left on the clock.
Victoria centre Ben Pepper exploited the loss of Dwight, the league's leading shot-blocker, to finish with 27 points and 15 rebounds.
Mackinnon tabled 28 points, ten rebounds and six assists for West Sydney, aided by John Rillie with a game-high 29 points and 16 boards.
The Razorbacks have a chance for revenge when the two teams clash again, in Victoria on Saturday night.
