Pigs hit Adelaide for six
West Sydney executed a record-breaking first quarter mugging of an understrength Adelaide on its way to a comfortable 14-point victory at the State Sports Centre.
The third-placed Razorbacks notched their 12th victory from the last 13 games as they completed a 108-94 victory over an Adelaide side missing star players Martin Cattalini and Brett Maher.
Adelaide produced the lowest-scoring quarter in its history, managing just seven points in the opening term of Friday night's match.
It was also the least amount of points ever conceded in a quarter by the Razorbacks.
Adelaide made only three out of its 26 first-quarter field goal attempts with Jacob Holmes missing all nine of his shots and Dusty Rychart landing only one out of seven.
West Sydney coach Gordon McLeod had the luxury of resting his three stars, John Rillie, Sam Mackinnon and Simon Dwight, for much of the second half as the home team led by up to 34 points.
The game threatened to be an embarrassing blowout for Adelaide after it trailed 30-7 at quarter-time, but it salvaged some respectability by out-scoring its host by 34-15 in the final period.
Despite the inglorious start, in which only three players scored a first-quarter basket, Adelaide still had the three highest scorers.
Guard Charles Thomas finished with 24, Rychart 22 and Holmes 21.
Guard Aaron Trahair came off the bench to lead West Sydney scoring with 20 points.
