Hussein wins IBO intercontinental title
World ranked boxer Nedal `Skinny' Hussein has won the IBO Intercontinental super featherweight title with a second round stoppage of fellow Australian Mick Shaw at Auburn RSL.
Former super bantamweight world title contender Hussein knocked the Queenslander down early in the second round.
Shaw, the Australian light welterweight champion, tried to fight back, but was dropped again by a right to the head and a left to the body.
He bravely tried to fight on but referee Garry Bean spared him further punishment.
The win improved Sydney-sider Hussein's record to 39-2 with 25 KO's.
Hussein said he intended campaigning at either featherweight or super featherweight and that there was a possibility he could challenge Britain's WBO featherweight world champion Scott Harrison later in the year.
In another Sydney promotion at Penrith Panthers, Australia's world ranked light heavyweight Jason DeLisle retained his IBF Pan Pacific title with a technical points win in the fifth round.
DeLisle was leading on the judges card by margins of one, three and five points when the fight went to the cards because of a facial cut which prevented the Australian from fighting on.
