Tszyu's camp denies Lewis sacking
Kostya Tszyu's camp dismissed an international media report claiming the fighter had sacked his trainer Johnny Lewis.
Tszyu lost his international Boxing Federation light welterweight crown to Englishman Ricky Hatton in Manchester at the weekend when he was unable to continue after the 11th round.
It was Lewis who decided Tszyu was unable to fight on after asking the boxer in his corner whether he was okay.
A report in Russia claimed Tszyu's manager Matt Watt had said the Sydney boxer decided to dump Lewis for stopping the contest.
However, Team Tszyu publicist Kristy Doyle, who arrived home on Tuesday morning, said she had spoken to Watt this evening while in transit in Bangkok.
"It's completely 150 per cent untrue," Doyle said of the report.
"I spoke with Matt and Kostya was sitting right beside him, so I was hearing him talk as well."
The report quoted Tszyu's promoter Vlad Warton as saying the 35-year-old boxer would never have stopped the fight on his own accord.
"Kostya wanted to continue, but Lewis felt that he was losing the fight," Warton was quoted as saying in the Sovietsky Sport newspaper.
"It wasn't Kostya's decision to end the fight. He would never have stopped his own fight."
