Crows defeat Kangaroos
Adelaide has scored a crafty seven-point win over the Kangaroos in an error-riddled match at AAMI Stadium.
The Crows won 5.19 (49) to 5.12 (42), clearly out-playing the Roos in the second half after trailing after 10 points at quarter-time and four points at half time.
The loss left the Kangaroos needing to rely on other results going their way to keep their spot in the top eight by the end of the round.
The visitors scored the only goal of the first half, a brilliant running goal by Daniel Wells, to lead 1.8 (14) to 0.10 (10) at the main break.
Adelaide's first goal of the night came three minutes into the first quarter, with Scott Welsh snapping truly from 35 metres, and amazingly it gave the Crows the lead, 1.12 to 1.8.
The game was characterised by fierce attacks on ball and body by both sides, but the kicking was poor when shooting for goal and delivering the ball into the forward line.
The poor skills were hard to understand given the conditions were excellent with no rain and barely any wind.
Adelaide led 2.17 to 2.10 at the last change and the two sides finally got on target in the last quarter scoring 3.2 a piece.
The Kangaroos levelled the scores 10 minutes into the term when Saverio Rocca marked and goaled but a brilliant left foot snap by Adelaide's Andrew McLeod followed by an easy Tyson Stenglein goal, set up by a great McLeod tackle on Shannon Grant, sealed the game for the Crows.
Grant was the visitors' best, while defender David King was also good.
