Davey the Demon dangerman: Crows coach
Adelaide coach Neil Craig is plotting to destroy the crafty plans of Melbourne's architect, Aaron Davey, in their AFL match on Sunday.
Davey has been instrumental in Melbourne's climb from the bottom of the pile, averaging 21 disposals a match this season.
The 27-year-old has been a prolific creator for the Demons and his damaging left boot has been central in Adelaide's thinking for Sunday's AAMI Stadium encounter.
"He has been a good player for them, a bit of an architect for them," Crows coach Neil Craig said of Davey.
"He is such a good kick, an elite kick in the competition, and that is what hurts you."
Craig is also wary of the speed of Davey and Melbourne in general.
"I like their speed, their speed of ball movement is very good," he said.
"So we will need to be on our game, to keep persisting with trying to create some turnovers, be mentally sharp - because if we're not, they will cut through you."
The Demons are in 13th spot on the ladder with four wins, one win ahead of the struggling Crows, perched in 15th position.
Adelaide have lost key defender Nathan Bock (groin) and Craig has dropped Jason Porplyzia and Jared Petrenko as he searches for a consistent attitude which has eluded his charges all year.
"The level at which we can play at is more than good enough and I think we have shown that," Craig said.
"And that is your first assessment: is our best at a level you would like, and the answer is, yes it is.
"Do we do it for long enough? No, we don't.
"Your better sides, one of the characteristics they will have is that level of consistency in the way the play a whole game - never at 100 per cent total domination, I am not talking about that.
