Power wants a crack at the Crows
Port Adelaide may be preparing for an AFL elimination final against the troublesome Kangaroos, but defender Chad Cornes has made it clear the Power's sights were well and truly set on crosstown rival Adelaide.
Despite being undermanned, Port went agonisingly close to vanquishing the Crows in their round 20 showdown, let down only by a handful of crucial skill errors.
Now with fewer players injured and two weeks of outstanding form behind them, Cornes said the Power was desperate for another opportunity to take on the minor premier.
"We're not scared of Adelaide one bit," he said with relish.
"I'd just love that chance to meet them again because the only thing that let us down last time was our skill errors and we had some great players that didn't play that game.
"It would be our dream to meet them in a final."
There will be two chances for the Power to meet the Crows in September.
Should Adelaide lose to St Kilda at home and Port defeat the Kangaroos away this weekend, the two would square off at AAMI Stadium in a week two semi final.
In the event of an Adelaide win this weekend, Port Adelaide would be able to shoot for a possible meeting in the AFL Grand Final.
Cornes said that with the experience of the 2004 premiership to call on, his teammates were actually more confident of finals success in 2005 than they had been last year.
