Crows' Johncock gets positive diagnosis
Adelaide have received some positive news after Friday night's 11-point loss to Essendon with AFL veteran Graham Johncock cleared of serious damage to his hip.
Johncock was helped from the field in the second quarter of the loss to Essendon, substituted at halftime and sent to hospital.
Scans have cleared Johncock of any structural damage, although he has severe hip bruising and is expected to miss next week's clash with St Kilda.
Matthew Jaensch is also unlikely to be available for Friday night's game due to a shoulder strain.
However ruckman Sam Jacobs has had good news after having scans on his leg, which was kicked in the third quarter against the Bombers.
The former Carlton giant is expected to take on the Saints.
The Crows surrendered meekly on Friday night after holding a 37-point lead midway through the second quarter.
It won't offset the home side's disappointment but the AFL have since confirmed a timekeeping error during the third quarter meant the game was extended by 52 seconds.
A goal was scored with 12.31 remaining but the clock was not re-started at the next centre bounce, as is required.
The match clock remained off for 52 seconds of actual playing time, however, there was no score by either side during the extra seconds.
AFL umpires' boss Jeff Gieschen noted the error would be addressed on Monday as part of their post-match review.
"It's extremely disappointing for us that this error occurred for the match," Gieschen said.
The error follows a similar incident in last year's round one clash between West Coast and Brisbane when a malfunctioning timing device meant the sides played extra time in three of the quarters.
The two timekeepers on duty were suspended over the error, although it also did not have a net effect on the scores.
