Blues brimming with confidence on road
Carlton coach Brett Ratten says the Blues will enter Saturday's AAMI Stadium clash with Adelaide full of confidence, given their strong interstate record this year.
In the club's previous two games outside of Victoria this season, they comfortably defeated West Coast at Subiaco in round seven, then stormed home to down Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium in round 11.
"We take a fair bit out of our interstate performances full stop, the West Coast game and the Port Adelaide game have given us confidence," Ratten said.
"The great thing about the group at the moment is when we do go away there's a lot of unity and you get that bond.
"Being together for 48 hours or so and living in each other's pockets, I think that's very good for our young group to go away and be together."
Ratten also said the confidence was buoyed by Sunday's stunning comeback win over the second-placed Western Bulldogs, which the coach said was probably his team's best performance of the year.
"It was close to a four-quarter performance. In a lot of aspects that we tried to do in the game I think we nearly hit the mark to achieve 99 per cent of them," he said.
The clash with seventh-placed Adelaide is crucial to Carlton's finals hopes, as a win will put them level on premiership points with the Crows.
Ratten acknowledged it was an "eight-point game", adding it was important Carlton were able to sustain the form they showed against the `Dogs.
"Belief comes from good performances and then backing that up," he said.
"Our challenge is we haven't won too many games two in a row, so we need to see if we can achieve that and if we can that will keep that glimmer of hope still going."
