Suspended Carroll to miss Origin
Queensland lock Tonie Carroll was found guilty of grade two striking, ruling him out of contention for next Wednesday's State of Origin decider in Sydney.
Carroll was suspended for two matches after being found guilty and then failing to have the charge downgraded at his NRL judiciary hearing.
Carroll was charged over two separate incidents involving Canberra halfback Mark McLinden during Brisbane's surprise loss to the Raiders at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.
He had already pleaded guilty to a grade one striking charge and will serve a one-match suspension on Sunday when the Broncos play South Sydney.
That would have allowed state selectors to add him to the Queensland squad if he escaped further penalty.
