Myles takes six week ban after Origin
Queensland and Sydney Roosters forward Nate Myles has accepted a six week suspension for his spear tackle on NSW's Ben Cross in Wednesday's rugby league State of Origin decider.
Myles entered an early guilty plea to the grade three dangerous throw charge and will be sidelined until the Roosters' round 24 clash with fellow NRL front runners Cronulla.
The fiery prop, who was suspended for a similar offence in last year's Origin series, risked an eight-week ban if he contested the charge and lost.
The tackle by Myles on Cross occurred in the 48th minute of a sometimes spiteful match won by Queensland 16-10.
Cross reacted angrily to being dumped on his head by unleashing a flurry of punches at Myles.
The lengthy suspension for Myles adds to a mounting player toll from the Origin series decider.
Cross is out for up to six weeks with knee and thumb injuries unrelated to the Myles tackle, Queensland halfback Scott Prince to miss the rest of the regular season with a broken arm and several players are in doubt for this weekend's NRL games with niggling injuries.
