Ricketson out of grand final
Sydney Roosters lock Luke Ricketson called for an overhaul of the judicial system after failing in his bid to be cleared for Sunday's NRL grand final.
On a dramatic night at the judiciary, Ricketson was found guilty of a grade three striking charge and suspended for three matches, ruling him out of the premiership decider against the Bulldogs at Telstra Stadium.
The 31-year-old admitted he was shattered with the decision and called for the rules to be changed to place more emphasis on missing a grand final.
"I'm very disappointed, extremely disappointed," Ricketson said.
"I just think the rules at this time, something has to be done about it. Everybody has made it pretty common that that's the way it should go.
"It's a tough ruling. I'm going to have to sit on the sideline this weekend and it's disappointing.
"I'm going to have to be a man and get on with it."
Asked how many games a grand final was worth, Ricketson replied: "Ten, as many as you want.
"I'm very proud to be a Rooster and it's obviously disappointing I won't be a part of it this weekend."
The Roosters on Wednesday night refused to rule out appealing against the decision.
