Broncos' forward Josh McGuire cleared
Rugged Brisbane Broncos forward Josh McGuire has been found not guilty of a low range striking charge by the Queensland Rugby League judiciary.
A three-man panel gave McGuire the benefit of the doubt after he pleaded not guilty to striking Wynnum Manly fullback and Brisbane NRL team-mate Denan Kemp during a Queensland Cup game at the weekend.
McGuire went into the hearing with 93 carryover points from a similar striking charge while playing for Norths last May.
Had he been found guilty he would have missed two games for Norths or the Broncos.
Kemp, who on Thursday revealed he was leaving the Broncos after signing a short term contract with the Australian Rugby Union, said he thought McGuire's errant elbow, which broke his nose, was accidental.
"He plays with aggression and he was thrashing about trying to get up for a quick play the ball," Kemp told AAP.
"I don't think he had any idea who the player was underneath him."
