Morrison likely out for season
North Queensland back rower Glenn Morrison may not play again this season after fracturing two vertebrae in his back during his NRL side's surprise win over St George Illawarra.
Morrison, who spent Saturday night in Wollongong Hospital, is expected to fly home on Tuesday. He has been cleared of any spinal injuries.
Cowboys chief executive Denis Keeffe stayed in Wollongong with Morrison and stressed the injury was no threat to his career.
However, he could spend two months or more recuperating.
Morrison was injured when he collided with a Dragons player while diving for the ball during his side's 14-12 victory.
"He's in a fair bit of pain but he's comfortable," Keeffe said.
"He's got a couple of cracked vertebrae. It's not a spinal problem. There's no surgery required.
"We've seen a couple of neurosurgeons in the last 24 hours and they're saying no surgery.
"We'll see the main man against tomorrow."
Morrison will wear a brace in the short term, supported by another brace between his shoulder blades.
