Glamorgan hoping to sign Gillespie
Welsh county side Glamorgan are reportedly close to signing Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie in a desperate bid to rebuild their team.
Gillespie, who has spent the past two seasons at Yorkshire, is expected to make up his mind on whether to join the struggling side by the end of the week, The Guardian newspaper said.
"We are interested in Jason Gillespie and we have been talking with him," Glamorgan chief executive Mike Fatkin told the newspaper.
"He is not only a player of quality and experience but he would be available for virtually all the season."
Glamorgan hopes the 32-year-old, who is Australia's fifth-highest wicket taker, will help restore the club to glory after it finished last in the second division last season.
Gillespie, who took 259 wickets in 71 Tests for Australia, captured 75 wickets during his two-year stint with Yorkshire.
