Martyn unlikely to play Cup final
Australia's middle-order batsman Damien Martyn remains doubtful for Sunday's World Cup final Johannesburg, South Africa, despite making steady progress from a broken finger.
"The swelling's gone and it is getting better and better, but I will make myself available for the final only if I am 100 percent fit," Martyn told reporters at the Wanderers today.
The 31-year-old suffered the injury in his right index finger while fielding against Kenya last Saturday and missed the semi-final against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
"I have never broken my finger, but have told captain Ricky Ponting I will not jeopardise the final by playing with an injury," he said.
"I am lucky I am still in the side and don't have to watch the final on television like Jason Gillespie and Shane Warne."
Spinner Warne missed the the entire World Cup after a failed drugs test and fast bowler Gillespie returned home midway with a heel injury.
