Gillespie will accept Ashes axe
Struggling fast bowler Jason Gillespie says he will accept if he's axed from the Australian Test team this Ashes series.
Gillespie's trying tour has yielded only three wickets in as many Tests at 100 runs a scalp, which has put him in the firing line to be dropped for the fourth Test against England, at Trent Bridge starting Thursday.
The South Australian was realistic he might lose his spot to either Michael Kasprowicz or the uncapped Shaun Tait.
"You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see I haven't been bowling well," Gillespie said.
"I don't know what's going to happen in the next game but if I don't play I will understand.
"It is disappointing when you are not making the contribution you want to.
"At the end of the day the statistics don't lie - I haven't been taking wickets and been going for too many runs."
Gillespie's form has been so worrying captain Ricky Ponting barely used him in the second innings of the drawn third Test.
