Green ready to go against Canadian
A relaxed and confident Danny Green declared himself "pumped and ready to go" for his World Boxing Council super middleweight interim title bout against Canadian Eric Lucas in Montreal this weekend.
Green was still one and a half kilos over the weight limit but anticipated no problems shedding that amount prior to the bout which takes place on Sunday afternoon Australian time.
Happy with his preparation in Miami prior to arriving in Montreal, Green has spent most of his time in Canada in his hotel room protected from the snow and freezing conditions.
He met Lucas in person for the first time at Thursday's press conference.
"He's got very big chunky legs but his hands are smaller than mine. I've got a longer, lighter frame than him and I may be a tiny bit taller, but he's got a much more solid build," Green said from Montreal.
"He's a very tough and a very proud man, but come Saturday night (Montreal time) I'll have no respect whatsoever. I don't care who he is, what he's done.
"I feel good, I feel relaxed. I'm very happy with my preparation. I rapt, I'm pumped for the fight and ready to go."
Green and former champion Lucas are fighting for the right to meet fully fledged WBC champion Markus Beyer next February.
Both Green and Lucas lost in controversial circumstances to the German earlier this year.
Beyer was scheduled to defend against Lucas in Germany last month, but an eye infection ruled him out of the contest and led to the WBC sanctioning an interim title bout.
