Mundine retains WBA crown
Anthony Mundine successfully defended his WBA super middleweight boxing title with a hard-fought unanimous points decision over tough Argentinian Pablo Zamora Nievas on the Gold Coast.
The 32-year-old Mundine retained the crown he won with his ninth-round defeat over Sam Soliman in March.
The former rugby league star had predicted he would put Nievas "to sleep" within four rounds but the South American slugger wasn't going to lie down easy, despite copping plenty of punishment in front of a crowd baying for blood.
Mundine, who may have torn a biceps muscle in the bout, improved his record to 29-3 (22KO) while Nievas lost only his second fight out of 20.
