Taylor given suspended sentence
World ranked junior middleweight Shannan Taylor was effectively given a suspended sentence by the Boxing Authority of NSW after a hearing into his actions following his controversial bout with Marc Bargero in February.
An irate and emotional Taylor allegedly verbally abused an official after his national super middleweight title bout with Australian champion Bargero was ruled a technical draw.
The February 21 bout at Penrith was stopped in the sixth round because of a cut on Taylor's forehead.
He was ordered to appear before the seven-person membership of the Boxing Authority of NSW to show cause why his registration should not be cancelled.
The hearing deferred suspension on condition Taylor did not bring the sport into dispute for the rest of the registration period ending on December 31.
The decision means Taylor will be able to proceed with his April 11 rematch against Bargero at the Panthers Club.
