Lazaridis to be available for qualifier
Socceroos defender Stan Lazaridis says he will be available to play for Australia in its two-legged World Cup playoff against Uruguay after it was originally feared he would miss the next three weeks with a hamstring injury.
Lazaridis injured his hamstring playing for English Premier League club Birmingham City against Blackburn at the weekend.
It was originally thought the injury would leave him sidelined for the next three weeks, an assessment which would have ruled him out of the Socceroos' November 12 and November 16 meetings with Uruguay.
But Lazaridis says he now expects to miss only one week of football.
