Bichel keeps Bulls level pegging
Australian paceman Andy Bichel displayed bright form ahead of next week's first Test against India with a four-wicket haul for Queensland against South Australia at Adelaide Oval.
Bichel's 4-58 from 14 overs put the Bulls back on even terms at stumps on day two of their Pura Cup match, with SA 7-283 in its first innings, with Jason Gillespie on four and wicketkeeper Graham Manou on 15, in reply to Queensland's first innings of 310.
The Redbacks had looked like comfortably taking first innings points at 5-253 after 80 overs, with former Zimbabwe skipper Andy Flower (82) and Manou at the crease.
It was Flower's first Pura Cup innings of note since joining SA this season, as his previous highest score in six innings was 32, against Western Australia at the WACA last month.
But Bichel had him caught behind in the first over with the new ball and then trapped John Davison LBW in his next over to have SA plummet to 7-264 and force both sides into a tight scrap for first innings points.
Earlier, SA skipper Greg Blewett (62) shared a 71-run third-wicket stand with Flower, before being bowled by Bichel, who also took the first SA wicket, that of Shane Deitz (12).
