Queensland still unbeaten in ING Cup
Queensland has continued its unbeaten start to the ING Cup, defeating Western Australia by 11 runs in their day-night cricket clash at the WACA.
WA opener Marcus North smashed a career-best 134 not out in reply to Queensland's 7-291 from 50 overs, but it wasn't enough as the home side finished on 6-280.
The Bulls, who have already defeated NSW in Brisbane and South Australia twice this season, gained some revenge for last year's loss in the limited overs final.
WA stunned Queensland last season with a last-gasp four-wicket win at the Gabba to lift the one-day trophy, but there was no repeat this time around.
After winning the toss, Andrew Symonds (77) and Jimmy Maher (72) steered the Bulls to a solid total.
The visitors then overcame a sloppy bowling performance, with 19 wides in their 24 sundries, to record their fourth straight win in the limited overs competition.
The Warriors made a disastrous start to their run chase, losing opener Scott Meuleman and Adam Voges cheaply to slump to 2-11 after just four overs.
Bulls paceman Andy Bichel (2-44) claimed both wickets.
A 134-run fourth wicket stand between North and Murray Goodwin (63) offered some hope, but Goodwin's departure signalled the end of WA's resistance.
Earlier, Maher hit 72 runs off 76 balls in a 104-run opening stand with James Hopes (23) before Brett Dorey claimed both wickets in the space of five deliveries.
