NSW scores 74-run victory over Qld
NSW on Monday secured a 74-run Pura Cup victory over Queensland at the Gabba after dismissing the Bulls for 250 in the final hour of a momentum-swinging match.
Tall quick Matthew Nicholson (3-56) issued last rites on Queensland when he had Chris Hartley leg before for 37 with 14 overs remaining.
Chasing a difficult 325 on the final day, the Bulls batsmen let themselves down with only opener Lachlan Stevens (52) passing 50.
Twice Queensland lost two wickets in the one over with Doug Bollinger and former West Australian Beau Casson delivering severe double blows to take the home side from 0-81 to 4-125.
Test paceman Stuart Clark, who had only taken one tail-end wicket in the first-innings enhanced his Ashes hopes with his last spell with the second new ball.
He fired out Andy Bichel (27) and Daniel Doran (0) by inducing edges into the cordon to finish with 2-46.
Blues skipper Brad Haddin was voted man of the match for his 139 and 47, plus six catches for the match.
