Reds want sellout after ticket bungle
Disappointed Queensland Reds captain James Horwill says he is hoping for a sold out Suncorp Stadium for Saturday night's Super Rugby final after a technical glitch with a ticket agent denied them a full house last weekend.
Eyebrows were raised when only 44,940 attended the 52,000-capacity Suncorp Stadium for last Saturday night's semi-final against the Blues.
But Ticketek confirmed on Tuesday that punters were turned away when they tried to book tickets and received a message saying the match was a sell-out.
Ticketek client services director Dominic Teakle said the problem had been fixed and expected no problems when tickets went on sale for the Super Rugby finale on Wednesday morning.
"If anyone does get that (sold out) message, which I don't expect, go online which will have all the latest information," he told ABC Radio.
He said compensation for lost revenue would be discussed with the Queensland Rugby Union after the final.
Horwill hoped there would be no more technical gremlins as his side looked to feed off a fanatical Reds crowd against the Crusaders.
"That's a little bit disappointing if that is the case," he said of the technical glitch.
"We wanted as many Reds fans as possible.
"Hopefully this weekend we get it right and there is as much as a hostile environment as possible.
"We want to put the sign up and say it is sold out and not have any empty seats."
