Hynes re-signs with the Reds
In-form Queensland Reds winger Peter Hynes has extended his contract with the Super 14 franchise for another two years.
"I'm really enjoying my rugby with the Reds," said Hynes, who has scored 10 tries in 52 appearances for the Reds in Super 14.
"Our backline is creating a lot of space which is tremendous for me as a winger."
Performance rugby manager Ben Whitaker said Hynes' talent, versatility and commitment made him a valuable member of the Reds squad that will lose fullback Chris Latham and hooker Stephen Moore at the end of this season.
The Reds are still sweating on the future of Wallaby halfback Sam Cordingley and winger Clinton Schifcofske who have been linked to European clubs.
"We're delighted that Peter has stayed loyal, that he recognises this team is going places and that he wants to be a part of the Reds' future," Whitaker said.
"He definitely has the skills to play wing, centre or fullback, for Queensland and Australia."
Having already played 62 matches for the Reds, the 25-year-old Hynes said he aimed to reach the 100-game milestone after extending his contract until the end of 2010.
"I've got a long way to go before I reach 100 games but it would be tremendous if it happened," said Hynes, who made his Queensland debut in 2003.
The Reds, 10th on the Super 14 ladder, will take on the Blues at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.
