Lions lift Fevola suspension
Brisbane has lifted its suspension of gun forward Brendan Fevola but is awaiting an AFL investigation into allegations into an off-field incident before clearing him completely.
Queensland Police on Wednesday ruled out charging Fevola over an allegation he exposed himself to a woman at a non-club sanctioned function.
But the AFL will not let the matter end and will speak with police over the allegations to determine if Fevola should still face disciplinary action.
"In view of this outcome, and in consultation with the AFL, the club has lifted Brendan's suspension, but will await the outcome of the AFL enquires before finalising the matter," the Lions media statement release on Thursday read.
"In the meantime, Brendan will now join his Lions team-mates and resume his training and rehabilitation commitments with the club effective immediately."
Fevola, 29, has strenuously denied the allegation regarding his behaviour at a community function last month and says he expects to join his teammates next week on a trip to China for an exhibition match.
"I am, obviously, pleased with the outcome of the police investigation," Fevola said in statement released by his management on Wednesday.
"I was always confident justice would prevail because I knew, as I said from the outset, that I had done nothing wrong.
"I look forward, now, to putting this matter behind me, flying to China with the Lions boys next week, and completing my injury rehabilitation before focusing on an important pre-season.
"I want to thank my friends, family, management and the AFL Players Association, plus Lions coaching staff and players, for their support through what has been a difficult time."
