Fevola wants to play in VFL
Disgraced forward Brendan Fevola has confirmed he wants to play in the VFL this year.
Fevola was dumped by Brisbane late last month for a string of alcohol and gambling related indiscretions.
The Lions are close to formalising a payout of the last two years of Fevola's contract, understood to be worth around $1.5 million.
If Fevola, who was also shown the door by Carlton in 2009, is to make a return to the AFL next year, it was considered vital that he played at some level in 2011.
The VFL is the likeliest option, especially at a club such as Port Melbourne or Frankston, neither of which have an alignment with a AFL side.
Fevola, 30, has kept a low profile in recent weeks after checking into a rehabilitation centre in Brisbane with alcohol and depression issues.
But he broke his silence via Twitter on Tuesday, declaring he was ready to play in the VFL.
"Hey guys thanks for all the support," he tweeted.
"Decided to give footy one more crack. Any VFL clubs who want to talk please contact Velocity Sports."
Fevola has kicked 623 goals in a 204-game career with the Blues and the Lions.
Frankston have made it clear they want to sign Fevola, while Port Melbourne will also look into the idea.
