AFL extremely concerned by Fevola
The AFL says it is "extremely concerned" by allegations of indecent exposure against strife-prone Brisbane forward Brendan Fevola.
The 29-year-old forward has been accused of indecent behaviour towards a female fan at a community football function in the Brisbane bayside suburb of Wynnum last weekend.
The Lions were contacted by the woman's husband about the matter, with police now launching an investigation.
AFL football operations boss Adrian Anderson says the league is also conducting an investigation into Fevola's alleged conduct, although the player himself denies any wrongdoing.
He said the AFL was awaiting information from Queensland Police before it could move any further forward in its own probe, saying the league did not want to cut across the police investigation.
"We have spoken with Queensland Police, we have spoken with the Lions, and we have spoken with the woman concerned and her husband," Anderson said on Wednesday.
"The AFL doesn't tolerate and won't tolerate indecent behaviour towards women.
"We are extremely concerned by this matter and take the complaint that has been made very seriously."
Anderson refused to be drawn on whether Fevola could be kicked out of the sport should the allegations be proven.
"There's provisions for all sorts of things under the AFL rules, but the important thing is we get to bottom of this," Anderson said.
"The AFL takes extremely seriously respectful and appropriate behaviour towards women by players.
"What we need to first and foremost do is get the facts straight."
It is the second time Fevola has been investigated by the league this year under its respect and responsibility to women charter.
Fevola was accused earlier this year of circulating to AFL players a nude photograph taken on a mobile phone of model Lara Bingle.
He escaped any punishment - the AFL citing a lack of evidence.
