Hawks cleared over Mac attack incident
Hawthorn's post-season celebrations included a clash outside a restaurant and Victoria Police has cleared the Hawks of any wrongdoing, the AFL club says.
"A small group of Hawthorn players have confirmed with club officials that they were involved in a altercation with a group of young males in Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn on Wednesday morning," Hawthorn Football Club said in a statement on Thursday.
"A young male involved in the scuffle reported the incident to police who have reviewed CCTV footage from the Glenferrie Road McDonald's, where the incident took place, and dismissed the assault allegations against any of the Hawthorn players present.
"Glenferrie Road McDonald's staff members have confirmed that the group of Hawthorn players were set upon outside the restaurant after an verbal altercation with a number of their group inside moments earlier."
The club said McDonald's staff had confirmed the Hawks players did not instigate the altercation.
The Hawks have been advised by Victoria Police no further action is to be taken.
