Bailey extends stay at Wigan
Australian Phil Bailey has extended his contract with English Super League club Wigan.
Bailey, who has switched from the centres to a regular starting position in the second row during his 82 appearances for the Warriors, agreed to a new one-year deal for 2010 on Monday.
"I am delighted to have signed a new contract having thoroughly enjoyed my time so far with the Warriors," Bailey said.
Bailey, 29, previously played in the NRL for Manly, the Northern Eagles and Cronulla.
His original three-year contract with Wigan ended last month and, after missing the last two months of the 2009 season with an Achilles injury, he faced an uncertain future.
"I am well on the road to recovery now and can't wait to be part of the squad for the new season," the former NSW and Australia representative said.
Bailey joins Wigan's new Australian coach, Michael Maguire, who recently left his post as Melbourne Storm assistant.
Maguire said: "Phil is a great player to have in your squad and I am pleased he is with us for 2010 and possibly beyond.
"He is wholehearted and committed and has a great work ethic."
